2011 Fleet News awards see wins for VW Golf and Polo

2011 VW Polo

Volkswagen's Golf and Polo have both won their respective categories at the 2010/11 Fleet News Awards, which were recently held in London.

The adjudication panel included senior editors at Fleet News and industry experts and was chaired by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders former CEO. Present to collect the awards on behalf of Volkswagen was their head of Fleet Services.

The main criteria applied at he awards are threefold:

First, operating costs - these include running costs such as fuel, servicing, maintenance and repair, liability for tax, lease rates and depreciation.

Second, their suitability for business and fleet use.

Third, the level of pre and after-sales support available from vehicle manufacturers.

The Golf was, once again, top of the 'Best Lower Medium Car' category, being praised by judges as a "strong proposition" due to good running costs, green options and desirability.

The Polo also retained its crown as 'Best Small Car', with judges mentioning its engine range (including low emission engines) and overall choice throughout the range.
