Audi A1 Range Gets A Power Paint Job
New Black and Contrast Editions for the Audi A1 are released this week. As well as offering a enhanced look to existing A1 options, these upgrades can also be equipped with a more powerful 2.0 Litre engine.

Contrast Edition (shown above)
For £1350 more than an Audi A1 Sports would cost, buyers can upgrade their A1 to the 'Contrast' Edition. This adds a contrasting colour for the roof line, 17 inch 'Five Arm' design bi-colour alloy wheels, and brings more aerodynamic body styling elements to the vehicle.
Black Edition
The Black Edition is only available with the new 143 PS 2.0 Litre TDI or the 185 PS 1.4 Litre TFSI petrol engine. In this package, a number of features are added, including: 18 inch 'Five Arm' rotor design alloy wheels in a titanium finish, dark tinted rear privacy glass, Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime-running lights, black styling treatment for the single frame grille surround and number plate holder, the Audi Sound System speaker upgrade and electronic climate control - all for £1100 on top of the price of the standard S line model.
Increased Performance and Economy
However these new editions are not just about looks, they also improves the vehicle's power and pace with the implementation of the 2.0 Litre TDI engine with common-rail fuel injection, available with both specifications. This engine can propel the A1 2.0 TDI with six speed manual transmission to a top speed of 135mph, and bring it from rest to 62mph in 8.2 seconds. Boasting a maximum torque of 320 Nm between 1750 and 2500 rpm, it generates 143 PS.
The economic side of the performance is no less impressive, with CO2 emssion cut back to 108g/km and a very reasonable 68.9 mpg combined fuel economy.
Both editions offer an individual take on the Audi A1 in terms of style, and when you add to that the increased engine power, these new models are bound to do more than turn a few heads.
