Fixed Price Servicing from Volkswagen from Summer 2010

Volkswagen's price review aims to provide equal levels of after-sales care to those with older cars (between 3 and 10 years old); bringing them in line with the service enjoyed by newer car owners. VW have stated that they want to eliminate the need to look outside their own after-sales network for maintenance and repairs to models such as the Jetta and Polo.

A comprehensive list of individually priced jobs has been introduced (for example, new brake pads or cambelt, or an air-conditioning service) together with a recommendation as to how often each job should be done.

For example, an MOT test for any VW under 2.1 litres and between 3 and 10 years old will now be £30.

Volkswagen recommend a minor service (£119) every year or 10,000 miles, and a major service every two years or 20,000 miles. Small dents and chips will be included in the service, and customers will also be able to choose from a loan car, collection and delivery of their vehicle, or a courtesy lift whilst the service is taking place.

Routine maintenance now includes parts, oil and labour, and any vehicle in the service centre for over an hour will also receive a car wash and be vacuumed free of charge.

Until the end of the year, Volkswagen are also offering a Fixed Price Service Plan to owners whose vehicles are under 2.1 litres and more than 90 days (but less than 8 years) old. The plan runs for two years or 20,000 miles and includes all standard service work and MOT tests.

It's worth noting that these new prices only apply to those retailers and approved mechanics who have opted in to the scheme. However, nearly 80% had already done so when it was first announced.
