Meet the Audi Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro
Audi have something a little bit special planned for the latter half of 2012; the Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro. This top of the line all-wheel drive A1 model will be a limited edition of just 333 across the world.
Desirable Exterior
As soon as you set eyes on this rare creation, you'll notice it's a little different from any other A1. The changes are subtle but effective, and give the vehicle a unique style. Firstly the colouring catches the eye. The Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro will be available only in an metallic white, with a high contrast black roof and interior. The bodywork elaborates on this impact with an exclusively designed frame including unique grille, bumpers and exhaust fittings. Final elegant touches are added in the form of tinted windows, LED rear lights, and 18-inch turbine design alloy wheels. Close inspection reveals that its a little longer than a conventional A1, but in terms of width and height it remains standard.
Extensive Specifications
As you would expect, Audi have spared no expense when it comes to equipping this top of the range A1. An impressive array of features include: cruise control, high-beam assisted Xenon plus headlights, automatic air conditioning, an LED interior lighting package, acoustic rear parking system, adaptive brake lights, a 465-watt 14-speaker Bose sound system, DAB digital radio, CD changer, light and rain sensors, hard disk-based MMI navigation plus, and the ability for passengers to connect their mobile devices to the integrated Wi-Fi system.
The Heart of the Beast
Proudly holding the title of Audi's first ever all-wheel-drive production A1, the Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro has a serious engine: a directly injected, turbo charged 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 256PS of output at 6,000 rpm. This unit delivers a top speed of 152 mph and enables the vehicle to go to 62 mph from zero in just 5.7 seconds. However, this kind of performance is balanced with highly effective fuel economy. Audi's engineers have made some great strides in this area and the Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro can achieve 33.2 mpg thanks to a regulated oil pump and its high pressure injection system.
Fingers Crossed
Unfortunately for UK drivers, the Limited Edition 256PS A1 Quattro is only currently planned to be released in mainland Europe. However, depending on the feedback Audi gets from these first lucky customers, they may yet decide to roll it out in the UK too. Here's hoping!
