New Audi A1 wins 5 stars in Euro NCAP crash test

2011 Audi A1

The new Audi A1 has been awarded a five star rating by the Euro NCAP consortium in crash tests.

High scores were given for adult protection in the event of collision at the front, rear or side, as well as on tests for child safety and pedestrian protection. The A1's front end is specially designed to minimise the damage to pedstrians and cyclists caused by a collision.

Equally important to Audi are accident prevention systems; the A1 boasts high stability and calm handling when cornering thanks to its 'ESP' electronic stablility system with a limited slip differential.

NCAP was formed in 1997 to improve road safety by carrying out crash tests on all vehicles for sale in Europe.

Consortium members include representatives from transport ministries, vehicle clubs, insurers and consumer organisations throughout Europe, and test requirements are more stringent than provided for under law
