New Audi Five-Door A1 Sportback

The new Audi Five-Door A1 Sportback has arrived and combines technological innovation, fuel economy and five-seat versatility in one attratively designed package. The A1 Sportback offers a roomy interior yet still keeps the body compact enough to be well suited for inner-city motoring.

UK customers will be able to get their hands on the new model in Spring 2012 and, with prices starting at only £13,980 OTR (only around £600 more than a A1 three-door) it will no doubt prove an attractive option to any driver looking for something in this range.

Superior Cabin and Luggage Space
At first glance the Five-Door A1 Sportback may look similar in size to an equivalent Audi three-door, but it does offer slightly more room for each passenger. It accommodates up to three people on the back seat, with each person allotted a seatbelt and protective headrest.

The A1 Sportback's luggage space is 270 litres with the back seats in place, but folding seats down will boost the luggage capacity to an impressive 920 litres, making it a very useful multi-purpose performer.

Standard and Common Features
The Sportback has an impressive array of standard and common features, including: ESP with latest differential lock system, front and rear electric windows and mirrors, alloy wheels, single CD six-speaker audio system with MP3 compatibility linked to a 6.5-inch retractable display, air conditioning, split/folding rear seat, full roof paint finish in contrasting colour and remote central locking security.

Audi Power and Performance
The Five-Door A1 Sportback's engine choices consist of a 105 PS 1.6 litre TDI diesel and three TFSI petrols, a 86 PS 1.2 litre, a 122 PS 1.4 litre and a 185 PS 1.4 litre twin-charge unit. All of these engines, apart from the 185 PS version, include an engine start-stop system.

All these engines are compact and relatively light and, with weight distribution perfectly balanced across the vehicle, the car is as much a joy to drive as the 3 door A1.
