Two new 'Match' models join the VW Golf and Tiguan ranges
Volkswagen's 'Match' variant is synonymous with extra features for only slightly more money. The latest two models to get the Match treatment are the Golf and Tiguan. In both cases, despite stacks of extras the price increase is nominal - only £300 more for the Tiguan and £250 for the Golf.
The Golf
The Match options replaces the 'SE Trim' variant. The existing feature set (including ABS, cruise control, seven airbags, alarm, iPod compatibility) has been expanded with over £1600 worth of new equipment: 16" alloy wheels, parking sensors (front and rear), DAB radio and touchscreen stereo with six-disc CD player, and bluetooth - all controlled from a new multifunction leather steering wheel.
In-car hands-free calls can now be taken and made easily and safely using the 5" stereo touchscreen and bluetooth integration, and Blackberries and iPhones have been added to the list of mobiles that can be used with the system.
Engine options are the same as they were for the SE Trim; 1.4, 1.6 (with seven-speed gearbox) and a 2.0 litre six-speed version. New fuel-efficient 'BlueMotion' options are also available, offering combined fuel economy of 65.7 mpg for the 2.0 litre engine and 68.9 mpg for the 1.6 litre engine.
The Tiguan
As with the Golf, the new Tiguan Match will replace the SE Trim variant. The existing specification (including ABS, 17" alloy wheels, six airbags, electronic stabilisation and 6-disc CD player) is now augmented with parking assistance, Bluetooth, air-conditioning, iPod compatibility, touchscreen DAB radio. As with the Golf, a new multi-function leather steering wheel allows integrated control of the extra audio and Bluetooth functionality.
There is a choice of two petrol (1.4 and 2.0 litre) and two diesel (both 2.0 litre) engines; a seven-speed automatic gearbox is now available on the 2.0 litre petrol and diesel options.
