Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Scoops Scottish 2011 Open-Top Car of the Year Award
Glasgow was buzzing on Friday the 14th of October this year, as the prestigious Scottish Car of the Year Awards were held at the marvellous Thistle Hotel. This was the 14th Scottish Car of the Year ceremony and Volkswagen ensured they had a night to remember, courtesy of the new Cabriolet.

Hitting the Ground Running
The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet only went on sale in September but had obviously been spotted by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers judges who had no hesitation in naming the Cabriolet Open-top Car of the Year.
The judges noted that the rapid movement of the Cabriolet's sun roof would allow Scots to "make the most of the sunshine as quickly and as easily as possible". They also praised the designs durability, insisting it's sturdy engineering would "keep the weather at bay on those rare occasions when the sun doesn’t shine in Scotland."
More praise was forthcoming for the Cabriolet with the judges' noting that: "An entertaining drive is a must, as are pocket-friendly running costs." and concluding that the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet: "delivers all of this and even lets you take more than just one friend along for the fun."
Rapid Top Down Action
A speedy two-door, four-seater convertible, the Golf Cabriolet is all about urgency and fun. The electrically-powered fabric sun roof reflects the vehicle's pacey nature, needing only 9.5 seconds to be lowered. This rapid change can be achieved while the Cabriolet is on the move.
A Choice of Engines
The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet can be equipped with three different engines, two petrol and a diesel. The diesel is 1.6 litre common rail TDI unit with 105 PS. It also includes BlueMotion Technology modifications resulting in reduced carbon emissions of only 117g/km, and improved fuel economy at a competitive 64.2 mpg.
The two petrol engines are a 1.4 litre TSI 160 PS and 1.2 litre TSI 105 PS, both offering more than enough punch to give the Cabriolet all the energy this eager convertable displays.
Prices for the Golf Cabriolet start at around an attractive £20,720 RRP OTR.
