Volkswagen Claims Double Victories at What Car? 2011 Award

Volkwagen came out smiling from the eagerly anticipated What Car? magazine's Used Car of the Year 2011 awards ceremony as the panel of judges, representing all fields of the motor industry, singled out the 2006 Passat Estate and 2009 Golf TDI for recognition.

VW Passsat Estate

Volkswagen Passat Estate wins Estate car category
The Volkswagen Passat Estate won the judges over with it's impressive blend of practicallity, economy and style. Kurtis Williams from Lex Autolease, clearly enjoyed judging the Passat Estate, enthusing that the vehicle: "is a brilliantly built premium estate with excellent diesel engines. It's surprisingly handsome for such a practical car."

The Passat Estate certainly offers quality, security and durabilty. It's robust functionallity is well framed in a stylish exterior, providing both ample boot space and a large cabin area all with an air of grace often lacking in the estate class.

2009 Golf TDI voted Best Green Used Car
The Golf SE 1.6 litre TDI will be of interest to those of an ecological mind, as Matt Sanger, judge and What Car?'s used car editor noted: "The Golf should be at the top of every green driver’s wish list." However, He made clear that his reasons for choosing the Golf TDI for the award were not only based on its low emissions, adding that the car was: "Great to drive and very efficient." News that the 2009 Golf TDI was voted the best dreen Used car will come as little surprise to anyone who has owned one, and with this endorsement it seems likely that many more people will come to know of the vehicle's charms.

Das WeltAuto
Volkswagen are comitted to making the process of buying a used car as enjoyable as getting one straight off the production line with their new "Das WeltAuto" used car programme. Dave Wilding, Volkswagen's man heading this venture, sets out his concerns: "Despite our best efforts there is still a gap between the new and used car purchase experience." He explained that Das WeltAuto will attempt to close this gap by ensuring quality control. The idea is that when a customer sees the orange "Das WeltAuto" branding on a potential purchase, it will give them confidence the vehicle meets the high standards they have come to expect from Volkswagen. Exciting times for those considering aquiring a used Volkswagen.
