With its smooth, refined ride and lower, more sporty looks, the Passat CC is a cross between a coupe and saloon. There are four engine choices (1.8 litre turbocharged petrol, 2.0 litre petrol or diesel, or 3.6 litre 4WD), with the 2.0 litre diesel or 1.8 litre petrol recommended by critics. Although the roof is 5cm lower than a standard Passat, there is still plenty of space for four adults, and the large boot is complemented by rear seats that lower. Safety is good, with 8 airbags and stability control standard on all models.
