She rides strong: women reclaiming the biking world

Motorcycling has long been a male-dominated industry, and women have long been overlooked. But that narrative is rapidly changing. With Ducati, women aren’t just present – they’re making noise, breaking down barriers and riding full throttle. It’s time to shine a spotlight on their stories and celebrate female empowerment in the biking world.

We’re delving into the inspiring journeys of women who live and breathe motorcycles, starting with a familiar face in the UK biking community: Deimante Meilune.

Deimante Meilune – aka Tomboy a Bit

Deimante Meilune, better known as Tomboy a Bit, is a motorcycle enthusiast and content creator who shares her passion through riding, reviewing and building bikes, and her journey with Ducati has been nothing short of impressive.

In 2022, Meilune attended Ducati UK’s first-ever media day at their Silverstone headquarters. That same year, she was present for the Diavel V4 launch at London’s iconic Gherkin and became one of the first UK YouTubers to ride the Scrambler Ducati at its launch in Barcelona.

Her obsession with motorcycles truly took off after purchasing her first brand-new bike in 2016. She clocked up an incredible 30,000 miles in just two years, fuelling her passion even further.

Originally from Lithuania, Meilune grew up enjoying family biking journeys but always dreamed of riding herself. After living and travelling across different countries, she eventually settled in the UK, where she has now lived for 20 years.

Meilune’s Ducati journey

Reflecting on her first Ducati experience, Meilune said: “I remember the first Ducati I rode was when the Scrambler Ducati was launched in Barcelona. It was one of the first launches I ever went on, and it was incredible. I loved it so much. I’ve always loved the Scrambler, but especially when the Next-Gen Scrambler came out. With the second generation, it’s just got better and better.

What sets Meilune apart is her approach to motorcycle reviews. Rather than focusing heavily on technical specifications, she concentrates on how a bike feels, fits and rides in different environments, weather conditions or out and about on the roads, and she offers advice as to which model delivers the best performance.

Not everyone is looking for a technical review,” she explains. “Some people want to know why they should buy a bike, and that’s what I try to show. Currently, it’s the Ducati Panigale V2 that interests me the most. I’d like to try more of the Ducati V2 range and then go on to compare the different models with their bigger V4 versions. Personally, I prefer to compare motorcycles to others available from the same manufacturer, rather than the usual comparison to bikes from different manufacturers.

Her most recent Ducati experience was riding the Supersport at a Ducati UK track day at Silverstone. After using the bike on the road and then taking it onto the track, she was instantly hooked – leading to daydreaming of a Panigale V2 and planning many future track days.

Building further success

But riding is just one string to Meilune’s bow. She’s also deeply involved in bike building, with her next ambitious project being a full bare-frame rebuild of a 2002 Ducati 998R. She’s working alongside Simon Parry, an ex-BSB mechanic, Ducati-certified technician and racer of the model in the New Era Sound of Thunder series (2003/04). Once complete, Meilune plans to return the bike to the track.

Speaking about her passion, she says: “The challenge motorcycles give me is something I love. They challenge me in every aspect, starting from riding. As soon as you get comfortable on one bike, there’s always something new – track riding, off-road, mechanics. It never stops. I love learning and growing, and that’s why I build bikes and learn mechanics.

I’m inspired by people both in and outside the industry – people who build the lives they want and inspire happiness in others. Every day I meet people who inspire me, and most of them come from the motorcycle world.

After a busy 2025, we can’t wait to see what Ducati adventures 2026 has in store for Meilune.

Women at Ducati Cambridge/Vindis

At Ducati Cambridge, we’re proud to have incredible female staff who share the same passion for motorcycling.

Emily Copping, Marketing Manager at Vindis/Ducati Cambridge, is a fantastic example of women thriving in the industry.

Emily shares: “Motorbikes have always been part of my life. Some of my earliest memories are helping my dad and brother fix, maintain and clean around 100 bikes we owned growing up. I learned as much as I could about the mechanics. When I was old enough, I’d hop on the back of a bike whenever possible and loved the thrill and power beneath me.

“That experience sparked my interest in the automotive industry and is a big part of why I enjoy marketing for Vindis. We welcome female riders and enthusiasts to Ducati Cambridge and would love to hear from you.”
