Ducati’s distinguished WorldSBK history
The lengthy line-up of Ducati models that have triumphed over the years reflects how much the Italian manufacturer has contributed to and shaped the history of motorcycle racing. Ducati secured their first Manufacturers’ World Title back in 1991 with the Ducati 888, which went on to win three times consecutively in 1991, 1992 and 1993, before the Ducati 916 took up poll position – securing consecutive victories in 1994, 1995 and 1996, and then one more in 1998. This marked Ducati’s domination at WorldSBK, the longest that has ever been seen in the competition’s history.
Ducati’s capabilities then ensured a series of seven consecutive World Manufacturers’ Titles between 1998 and 2004 with their 916, 996, 998 and 999 models. They went on to claim another four World Manufacturers’ Titles, the first in 2006 and then more victories in 2008, 2009 and 2011 – this time with their 999, 1098 and 1198 models.
The Ducati Panigale V4 R’s continued brilliance
Over the last three seasons, the Panigale V4 R has defined itself as a benchmark for technology and performance in the premier class of the top professional championships. Since 2019, the Panigale V4 R has been victorious in more than 90 races, and in 2024 – a year marked by regulation changes – the model proved itself once again to be an exceptionally versatile fast bike. Making history once again, it saw five riders win at least one race within the same season, including NicolòBulega (on his debut in Australia), Alvaro Bautista (Race 2 of the home round in Barcelona), Nicholas Spinelli (as part of the Barni Racing Team in the Netherlands) Danilo Petrucci (claiming a hat-trick at Cremona) and Andrea Iannone (Race 1 in the last round at Aragon).
“The top of the world”
General Manager of Ducati Corse, Luigi Dall’Igna, commented:“Winning our 20thSuperbike Manufacturers’ World Title is certainly something exceptional. It comes in a difficult year, where the regulations and the increasingly high level of the Championship have put us to the test. However, we managed to respond in the best possible way, achieving another historic and important milestone. This year, the Panigale V4 R climbed to the top step of the podium with five different riders, the same ones who, with their results, have contributed to adding up the points that have allowed us to arrive once again at the top of the world.”
