The CUPRA Formentor is a beguiling blend of sports coupé and SUV that offers the practicality of a hatchback. And unlike many SUVs, it’s a great deal of fun to drive – and in e-HYBRID form, it delivers noteworthy performance levels while being very affordable to run. The Formentor is practical too, offering straightforward five-door access to its three-zone-climate-controlled five-seat cabin.
Standard-issue features include 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss-black roof rails, rain-sensing wipers and a six-speaker sound system. The latter comes with DAB radio, four USB-C ports and Bluetooth connectivity. Also included is a 12-inch touchscreen, which provides access to a navigation system and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, among many other things.
The Formentor is a very safe car, and comes with Euro NCAP’s full five-star crash-test recommendation. Standard protective tech includes multiple airbags, seatbelt reminders and ISOFIX child-seat anchorage – and driver aids such as Forward Collision Warning (featuring automatic braking).
Entry-level e-HYBRID VZ2 trims are fitted with a 2.0-litre 242bhp drivetrain, which manages 0-62mph in seven seconds while returning as much as 188.3mpg.
