A racing work of art – the limited-edition Ducati Panigale V4 Tricolore
Three Italian colours, four decades of racing pedigree
Ducati’s proud Italian heritage was on full display with the limited-edition £48,000 Panigale V4 Tricolore situated against the stunning backdrop of the Art Basel at Miami Beach. The model’s grand reveal took place on 8 December 2024 during Miami Art Week, impressing both art and automotive enthusiasts with its next level innovation, Italian prestige and passion for design etched into every detail.
Three Italian colours, four decades of racing pedigree
It was the perfect opportunity for Ducati to celebrate four decades of Tricolore racing pedigree, cutting-edge style and sophistication. Designed by Aldo Drudi, responsible for Valentino Rossi’s distinguished crash helmets, the Tricolore livery has been combined with the victoriously symbolic black and white of the chequered flag – a symbol of the Bologna-based brand’s innovation, sporting success and racing prowess.
The Director of Ducati’s Strategy and Style Centre, Andrea Ferraresi, said: “In Miami and at Art Basel in particular we feel at home. Ducati is the only motorcycle brand able not only to combine sophisticated technology and sensual beauty, but also to break out of the typical schemes of sport liveries to create works of art, using the motorcycle as a canvas.”
Four decades of famed Ducati brilliance
40 years ago, the first Ducati with the Made in Italy livery was launched. The 750 F1 defined Ducati’s triumphant return to the sporting arena and kickstarted the prestigious Tricolore family of Ducati sportbikes.
Jump ahead to 1988, when the Ducati 851 took the livery to new levels. Featuring a new engine and advanced tech, this model took Ducati superbikes into a new chapter while standing out in both the racing arena and in motorcycle production.
It wasn’t until 2007 that the livery came back, with the 1098 S Tricolore, and from then on only special editions were brought out to herald the start or celebrate the conclusion of a model’s production, including the 2008 Monster S4Rs, the 1199 S Tricolore, the 1299 Final Edition, the Panigale V4 Speciale and the 2023 Monster 30° Anniversario.
The exclusive Ducati Panigale V4 Tricolore
Joining the special edition line-up is the Panigale V4. Limited to just 1,000 units worldwide, this exclusive model is a celebration of the Bologna brand’s Italian heritage and delivers an exhilarating racing performance,
This exciting model produces an incredible 213bhp at 13,500rpm from its 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine. It also comes equipped with carbon fibre five-spoke rims, reducing unsprung mass by 950g to allow for remarkable handling.
A world first for a production road bike, the Panigale V4 features 338.5mm x 6.2mm Brembo T-Drive front discs paired with Brembo Hypure calipers and an MCS 19.21 master cylinder, as seen in MotoGP and World Superbikes.
Additional upgrades include a dry clutch kit for the iconic Ducati rattle, adjustable aluminium footpegs and a GPS module for tracking performance. It also boasts a carbon fibre number plate blanking plate, a 6.9-inch TFT dash with a custom animation, Alcantara seats and a machined aluminium number board. Other special touches include a custom ignition key, motorcycle cover and certificate of authenticity.
A nod to Ducati’s 2024 racing dominance can also be found in the number plates, one at the front and one on the side of the fairing. And, to complete the look, you can even get your hands on the limited-edition helmet and jacket that replicate the colour scheme of the bike itself.
